Identify the transaction

Keep the network, transaction hash, date, amount and public sending and receiving addresses. A transaction hash helps identify a transfer; it does not prove who controls a receiving address.

Keep the surrounding context

Retain exchange receipts and the messages that instructed each transfer. Separate visible transaction information from statements made by a platform or adviser.

Keep access credentials private

Never share a seed phrase or private key. Be cautious about unsolicited recovery offers and further payment demands. Recording a transfer does not establish that funds can be recovered.
